Ms. Craig

My name is Melanie Craig. I am a Special Education Biology and Chemistry teacher at Eastie. I earned my Associates of Applied Science degree in Agricultural Science - Animal Science from State University of New York at Cobleskill, a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Secondary Education from State University of New York at Oneonta, and a Master of Science degree in Biology from University of Nebraska.

I have been at Eastie for two years now. I am not ne w to teaching though. This is my sixth year of teaching. I have taught in New York, Florida, and Tennessee, from middle school to college.

I love to teach. I dedicate myself to being a teacher, to having an influence on the generations of the future in the ever changing world of today. I commit myself to expanding the knowledge of both my students and myself, to grow as learners and individuals, and to have the power of knowledge to succeed. The best moments that I have while teaching are watching students' faces as they "get" what I am talking about. Seeing those light bulbs come on is why I teach. Having fun while learning makes teaching more enjoyable. It is a great feeling when students come back to me and tell me that they enjoyed my class or that they actually remembered something and applied it to their life.

Eastie is a place that everyone can feel like family. CLASS, PRIDE, TRADITION!
