Teaching is my absolute passion, and I enjoy working with students from all over the world. One of my favorite parts of teaching is that, like many students, I learn something new every day.
As a tenth, eleventh, and Advanced Placement Language and Composition teacher, I want students to walk into my class each day knowing that they will be expected to push themselves to new levels. When my students leave my class at the end of every school year, I want them to have choices; I believe it is my job to coach and to prepare them for those choices.
I earned my B.A. degree in English and French from Simmons College in Boston, and my M.Ed. from the University of Massachusetts - Boston. I have also completed extensive post-graduate courses, and I hope to someday earn my Ph.D. After trying out several different career paths, I began my teaching profession in the Boston Public Schools in 1998, and I have been an English Language Arts teacher at East Boston High School since 2001. Additionally, I have taught English at Wheelock College and Virtual High School. I am fortunate to have received several awards - including BPS Educator of the Year in 2008, and the Sontag Prize in Urban Education in 2010. While I do not teach for the accolades, I am humbled that students and staff go above and beyond so that I can receive such recognition.
