My name is Thomas Elliott and I am an East Boston High School graduate, class of 1978. My East Boston High School roots date back to the class of 1945, when my mother was the first in her immigrant Italian family to graduate high school. As a young boy growing up in East Boston, I was inspired by the football tradition of the Eastie v. Southie Thanksgiving day rivalry. Watching those games with my father and brothers, is when my path to East Boston High School's class, pride and tradition began. As a student at East Boston High School, I was fortunate enough to wear the blue and gold as a football player, and at the same time, I developed a great respect for mathematics. My math teachers developed my thinking power and encouraged my dreams, which gave me the confidence to contend at the college level, both on the field and academically.
As a math teacher and coach at East Boston High School, it is my goal everyday to exhibit the class, pride and tradition that built me. The East Boston High School students of today have their own individuality, talents, and dreams. My goal is to help my students develop their confidence in their analytical thinking. My wish for them is to follow their dream, and rely on their critical mathematic thinking skills to have patience, without fear, and stay the course as a reliable problem solver.
