Mr. McDonough

Hi, my name is Rich McDonough, and I teach History and AP Government at East Boston High where I have been a teacher for the past 12 years. While I am certified in Social Studies I also have a Master's in Education. Additionally, I bring real world experience to the classroom having been a leader and supervisor as a career officer in the United States Air Force.

Having grown up in Somerville, Massachusetts, I was drawn to urban education because I wanted to give back to the community and help young men and women learn and be productive citizens with an understanding of this country; it's traditions, it's culture and it's history so they can leave it a better place than they found it. East Boston has become my second home and I feel a special bond to this community, it's students and their families. I have been invited into some of your homes and am grateful to you for your hospitality.

Here at Eastie, we try to instill in every student, "Class, Pride & Tradition." We are trying to build tomorrow's leaders by setting high expectations and standards in the classroom. I believe every student can learn and must be challenged to their full potential. Equally important, it's been my experience that kids don't care how much we teachers know, they want to know how much we care! At Eastie, I think you'll find that's what sets our faculty apart from other Boston Schools. It's my privilege to be your child's teacher.
